செவிகைப்பச் சொற்பொறுக்கும் பண்புடை வேந்தன்
கவிகைக்கீழ்த் தங்கும் உலகு.
பிறர் சொல்லும் કઠોર சொற்களைப் பொறுத்துக் கொள்ளும் பண்புள்ள அரசனின் குடைநிழலில் இவ்வுலகம் தங்கும்.

कानों को कड़वी लगने वाली बातों को सहन करने वाले गुणी राजा के
छत्र के नीचे ही संसार टिकता है।
जो राजा कानों को कड़वी लगने वाली बातों को भी धैर्य से सुनता है, उसी के छत्र के नीचे यह संसार सुरक्षित रहता है।

The world will rest beneath the canopy of the king
Who has the grace to bear words that harshly sting.
The world will abide beneath the umbrella of the king who can bear to listen to reproof that is bitter to the ear.
